Not everyone wants to get a full facelift. Some people just want to have a small operation which will help them look younger. In this article, we will explain what a forehead lift is and the benefits it can offer you!

What is a Forehead Lift?

A forehead lift, also referred to as a brow lift, is a surgical procedure that tightens the skin and underlying tissues of your forehead. It can be done to improve a drooping eyebrow or eyebrows, reduce wrinkles on the forehead and neck, and smooth a frown line between the eyebrows.

Forehead Lift Procedure

The procedure for a forehead lift is rather simple. It begins with marking the incision sites with a pen on the skin at the hairline, and then making an incision from one side to the other. The incision is made in a triangular shape under the eyebrows and up towards each ear. Hairs are shaved away from the incision areas and then the skin is parted horizontally. The underlying muscles and fascia are separated from the overlying skin. The skin is then lifted up and moved forward. Holes are made in the underlying fascia with a special surgical instrument called a Freer or a Collins diamond burr. The holes are no more than half an inch deep. The overlying skin is then moved down and stitched back in its new position. The actual surgery takes about an hour and a half to complete. The After operative pain is minimal, usually an anti-inflammatory drug is sufficient for control. Most patients go home the day of the surgery.

Preparation for Forehead Lift

It is important to prepare for an operation of this kind. This will mean fasting for at least 8 hours beforehand,

1.wearing loose-fitting clothes

2. not using any cosmetics or lotions on the face.

3. not wearing contact lenses previous night

 Forehead Lift Risks

Forehead lifts are an effective way to remove excess skin and fat from the forehead. However, there are risks and complications associated with this procedure. The most common risk is that the surgery will not be 100% successful. Post-surgery, scarring can also occur that may need cosmetic surgery to correct. Excessive bleeding is also a risk. It can occur during surgery, as well as afterwards. This is more likely if you have an unusually high risk of bleeding issues, such as taking blood thinners or have a low platelet count. If there is excessive bleeding after the surgery, you may need a blood transfusion. Other complications include infection and excessive scarring, which may require additional procedures to correct. Preparing for Surgery Make sure you’re in good health before having the surgery. Make sure your doctor knows if you have had previous surgeries, including any recent surgeries.
